WAR valve tuning thread

The Benjamin Marauder air rifle can be tuned. You can adjust the trigger and the rifles velocities for different fill pressures.

Your 0.25 Bullpup figures look pretty good to me. 16 shots at 54 FPE is about the best I could imagine.... I only get 21 shots at 47 FPE from my 0.22 bullpup, and it's got a 6" air tube extension. I'm happy, it's the best I can get. Some tunes people obtain are, well, incredible LOL

not having a chronograph sucks...can anyone give me a baseline tune for a .25 gen 2 marauder with the gen 2 NBH, War valve, and 12.5lb hammer spring? I am looking to shoot at around 900fps with JSB 25.4gn pellets.

The only real adjustment is the hammer spring, and hammer throw... Without the chronograph you'd have no way of knowing the effect of your adjustments

Has anyone tuned their .25 with just the WAR valve and heavier spring without using the nbh?

I just did.

I was using the NBH and WAR valve for very high power tune with 43.2 grain Eun Jins, but the hammer started getting hard to cock. I took it apart and was getting some galling at the front of the hammer. I called Travis and he suggested I use stock hammer for max power tune.

I just shot it with stock hammer last weekend. It is louder than with NBH, but Eun Jins are moving at 860 FPS - same as I was getting with the NBH.

Next mod, I'm going back to a softer poppet return spring and adjusting for minimum preload to get higher peak power for just 8 shots. I tried a stiffer poppet spring hoping to get 16 good shots per fill, but all it did was lower my peak power by about 20 FPS and I'm still only getting 10 good shots.

That is exactly what I did. And I think it was a good move. I love both my 25s and they have very different uses. The 40 shot 25 is awesome for field pesting. The 8 shot 73 FPE gun is for hunting coyote, bobcat, raccoon - and it gives me a rush just to shoot it - you can really feel the power.

Thanks Nat450! and Thanks Travis!

That would be me :D
If you need it power is great. As a plinker and casual FT shooter I am after as many shots out of a fill as I can get.

Still I have to admit 73fpe is impressive.

The wise man will be happy with his stock 25 M-rod, but tune it to suit his needs.

The path seeking high power is expensive in time, pellets, and/or money.

That being said, go buy your next airgun! If loudness isn't an issue, you could buy a 25 Sumatra, or an Evanix Rainstorm II in 357. If it is, you can add an LDC to either one to get them relatively quiet again.
