My goal is to have accuracy and modest velocity. Current settings are 1.5 turns in f/full ccw on hammer spring, 6.5 turns in f/ full ccw on stroke and meter valve out 2 turns from full cw. (Yes, I am foolish for not having a chronograph - coming soon). My confusion is that these conservative settings are using 26 psi/shot and when I look at other people's settings such as the "Crosman Blog" article, they are using ~9 to 17 psi/shot. I fill to ~2150 psi and shoot to ~1400 psi. Any comments are appreciated.

Update: My stroke setting drifted full ccw, increasing stroke and explaining why air usage was ~26 psi/shot!

Tried the 12 fpe settings from http://www.crosman.com/blogs/croswords/?p=173

and still used 23 psi/shot while the claimed usage from the blog was only 9 psi/shot.

I realize every gun can be different, but the end results are very different. Since my valve is so resticted at 1.5 turns out, I may reduce hammer energy.

Back to nearly stock settings: 2.0 in hammer, 1.5 in stroke, valve 1.75 out....I have 1.25 out to achieve 15 psi/shot and the best accuracy I've obtained. This is how I shot my gun for the first 500 rounds and now I'm back to it. Velocity is likely to be low for hunting or long range, but easily adjusted. Of course, w/o a chronograph I am too ignorant to have a full understanding.

also lammy, all rifles are different. a couple thousandths difference in a few key places will change performance between same settings.

I just did this to stop my stroke adjustment from moving. Fun job thanks to the step by step diections...thanks Jeff.

What exactly did you do? All I saw from the link was a lot removin' and replacin'.

Ultimately, screw #42 was tightened which stopped the hammer stroke from moving. The steps entailed above allow you to get to this screw.

To stop the hammer spring preload from moving, simply screw a bolt into the threaded hole where one accesses the adjustment bolt. I do not recall the size, perhaps a 5/16" fine thread??

man, i feel like an idiot . this was all i was trying to figure out. so simple. now i am ready to lock everything down. thanks
