help with staley mod [solved]

The Benjamin Marauder air rifle can be tuned. You can adjust the trigger and the rifles velocities for different fill pressures.

help with staley mod [solved]

Postby SuburbanMe » Mon Jan 05, 2015 6:01 pm

Hey all,

I'm a mrod gen 1 owner and after all the bs associated with trying to get my mrod to shoot right, I've chosen to apply the bstaley mod.

Here's the catch though. I've no real experience taking apart rifles, but I see that you can add the rings via the sear outlet. I've tried getting a mate of mine to help me with this, but he's hard to pin down, so I thought I'd go to the source.

So, to remove the trigger assembly, is it just the 3 Allen key bolts? (One larger at rear, 2 smaller at front of trigger assembly)

Once that's off, do I just cock it and while its cocked, slip the 3 rings through the sear hole?

Are there any pictures or video of this anywhere? If not, It'd help massively if someone could oblige, as I am not interested in pulling apart the top of the rifle.

Anyway, I hope you guys can help me, seems everyone that tries this mod is extremely happy, so I want in on some mrod happiness!

Hope to hear back from some of you soon,

Luke

Yes, but the trigger is gone so you'll need to hold the bolt back as you insert the o-rings.

I've done it this way when I wanted to make a quick change to the number of o-rings or when I wanted to pull them all out, but removing the upper and then the hammer is not that difficult.

You may want to get or make an o-ring tool to help you push them in or pull them out. A thin/stiff wire with a small hook bend at one end will help position them. You can make one from a paper clip. I use these from Harbor Freight

Hey Ray,

Thanks for the reply mate, I have a set of picks, and the o rings, so it looks as though I'm set.

So just to clarify, it's the 3 Allen keys bolts on the trigger assembly?
I don't need to depressurize?

Anything else I need to know safety wise?

99% of the time it's the shooter, not the gun.

If you go ahead with the way you are thinking and run into problems have a look at this video.

Hey guys, thanks for those vids, seen the one with the guy wearing the red jumper, but not the one shootinit posted. Both these videos show the top half of the rifle being removed. Anyone know of any vids with the trigger assembly method?

Hey guys,

Well there's no need for anymore tutorials, I bit the bullet, and did the full tear down this morning and happy to say I'm nice and accurate again.

Shooting around 850fps with cp's out to 50m (55 yards, 54.68yards to be exact) in slightly gusty conditions, and this is the resulting 10 shot group.

That shoot n see is sticker is 2inches wide for those that have no idea how big an Aussie 20c piece is.

Scope was set at max 9x zoom.

Not a bad group for 55 yards. Im betting on a nice day you could tighten that up a bit more.

Nice work!

After a year of synrod ownership, I also recently did a bstaley (and removed the lawyer spring) and got mine back to sub-moa accuracy. It was a lot easier than I was fearing, and well worth it!

Ok, now I'm really gonna show how little I know.

Wth does the lawyer spring do? Where is it? And what is the benefit to removing it?

PS - obviously these have been answered before, but I'd appreciate someone enabling my laziness. ;)
