Help Tuning

The Benjamin Marauder air rifle can be tuned. You can adjust the trigger and the rifles velocities for different fill pressures.

240 m/s ~ 790 fps with JSB Heavys

my goal is to get the max shots at this velocity (14FPE) with a nice spread to FT (don''t really know what's a good spread for FT but i think 15fps to 30 fps...) what o you advise me to do?

i follow the Ateam guide but it's a bit realative because i don't really understand the consequences of each adjust (except the tranfer port...)

Vakeiros,

First off, if your goal is to get a shot string at about 240mps, then stop right there. Congratulations! You are very close, go out and practice.

If you really don’t understand what the consequences of each adjustment then it is impossible to tune until you do.

Here is an oversimplification:
The hammer stroke screw adjusts the distance the hammer travels before it strikes the valve. The longer the stroke, the more energy transferred to the valve, the longer it stays open, the more air is released, the faster your pellet travels.
The hammer spring screw adjusts the amount of tension placed on the hammer. More tension again means more energy transferred to the valve, the longer it stays open, the more air is released, the faster your pellet travels.

Tuning is simply the process of finding the right balance between your adjustments.

My advice is to go out and shoot, a lot.

If you feel compelled to experiment with tuning, then learn what each adjustment does over your crony.
Write everything down.
Do one adjustment at a time.
Document each adjustment incrementally from one end of the adjustment range to the other.
Tuning takes a lot of time and pellets, Winter always seems to me to be the best time to do it.
Best of luck,
Regards,
Paul
