Centerpoint 4-16x40 Scope

Postby BullseyeSniper on Fri Jul 24, 2009 1:02 pm

I found this scope at the local wally world for about 70 bucks. Its a centerpoint 4-16x40 with and green/red illuminated reticle . I currently have a 4x32 from my quest 1000 and it works alright but i know this gun has a lot more potential. Does anyone have any experience with this particular scope or brand? Is this a good bang for the buck deal ? Thanks guys

I have 3 of them one for my Talon SS, one for my Air Arms s410, and now one on the Marauder. For the money it is a good scope for airguns. It can focus down to 5 yards if needed.

Sometimes they run a special with a scope cover in the box along with the flip up caps.

Hope this helps

Thanks sacshooter for the reply and the info. You are right they do come with flip up caps and a cover or sock of some sort. I havent found anything near this price range with these kind of features or magnification .

This is a picture from our last Cedarville Squirrel hunting trip. Air Arms s410, Disco, Talon SS all with centerpoint scopes.

On the s410 I ordered a a-team scope turret, that I mapped out the drop from 50 to 100 yards. I have lines on the turret that tell me the scope setting for the distances. I found this easier than using mill dots at longer ranges.

On the Tallon ss, I used chairgun to make a round pellet drop chart, I then cut it out and placed it inside my scope flip up cover so I can range the target and see what mildot hold over I need. On the SS you can also see my DIY turret cap. It is a PCV sprinkler pipe end cap painted black. I just pushed it onto the top of the cap for fun. you can then use tape to go around the fitting and mark the corrections on it. If I was going to make another one, I would drill a 3/8 hole in through the top so I could use a allen wrench to re-zero the turret without taking it off.

Hey Roger,
What would you say is a comfortable distance (in terms of accuracy, with all things being equal) the 4-16 magnification will take you out to. I have a 3-9x50 now and would like to upgrade it to either the 4-16 or 8-32, I'm undecided. thanks. Steve

if you scroll down on the following post I did on the talon forum with my s410

http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=

you will see some 50 and 100 yard groups.

for out to 70+ yards the 4-16 works fine, for 100 yard+ paper punching I'd go for the 8-32 (aim small miss Small)

Hey Roger, Thanks. So it looks like the 4-16 would be a great improvement, especially inside of 100 ft. Steve

I bought the Centerpoint 4-16x40 scope at walmart.com for $64 with flip-caps. I am new to this, so don't crucify me, but the rings it came with will not fit the width of the rail/grooves on my new marauder. What do I need to do? Any help would be appreciated, but not by the squirrels currently flipping me off under the bird feeder...

Not a problem, the mounts it comes with are for a powder burner (weaver type)

airguns have smaller rails, so you need different scope rings.

what are you mounting the scope on?

Forgot to mention that, sorry. I'm mounting this on a new Benjamin Marauder .22. I've since learned that it has the 3/8" (or 11mm) dovetail attachment rail.
