Graywolf,

I put a Leapers 3-9X-40mm on my Maruader with medium profile rings. Although I have the .177 model, I am seeing one hole groups at 20yds. Just got the rifle a couple days ago and I couldn't be happier.

I have a Leapers Accushot 6-24x56 AO. It is nice and bright! Good value for the price. Mounted on a .22 mrod.

Bushnell Banner 6-18x50

Postby JimC on Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:57 pm

I just thought I'd pass on some information on the Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 scope. I have this mounted on a Diana 54 springer, which is the King of scope destroyers. This is the third scope I have mounted on this rifle and the first to last more than 2 weeks. I also am trying a new mount as well which could be part of the success story. In addition to the apparent sturdiness of the scope, it is one very nice scope, period. I bought it because it is usually highly reviewed, because Bushnell scopes seemed to be able to handle springer abuse and because I was able to find it on sale at Midway USA with a special $10 credit for $105.

For a $130 scope I would highly recommend it to anyone to mount on any rifle. I must own 8 or 10 scopes and this is the least expensive scope I own, but it ranks right with scopes costing 3 to 4 times the money. One of the best features of this scope is that it has a parallax (AO) adjustment down to 10 yards THAT ACTUALLY works. I have an indoor shooting zone (I wouldn't call it a range :D ) and this is the only scope I have tried on my air rifles that will focus both the reticle and the target at 20 yds or less when zoomed to 6x or more. The light gathering ability of the scope is excellent; it is well made, and seems to track adjustments very well. I think it makes an excellent scope for air rifles and I’m considering buying a second one for my Marauder. If you shop around you can probably find it on sale for under $120.

Hi,

I have these two both highly recommended by Pyramyd Air

Leepers golden image 3x9 30mm 1 inch tube. Have that on a gamo. I like it and it's less than $45.

Leepers 4x16 50mm 1 inch tube. Illuminated reticle. That's their first recommendation for the Marauder. I have it on my gun and it's working good. Good light gathering high enough magnification to get some range, good eye relief. $81

This is recommended by Tom Gaylord I think. ;) Centerpoint 3x9 x40 I think it has an illumated reticle. It's small enough that it can be mounted on shorter rings. Search the pyramyd air blog spot for Marauder scope.

jim, what kind/brand of mount are u using? am thinking about scoping a 54 in .177. it has the groove mount w/three phillips screws. it was made in 05 so don't know if they still have the same mount system now. can u recommend a scope ring system?

Here is the link to the scope bases I have on my Diana
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/UTG_Scope_Mount_Base_Fits_RWS_Diana_34_36_38_45_Compensates_for_Droop_Stops_Scope_Shift/2298

I highly recommend these on the Diana 54. Because you are adding a Weaver/Picatinny rail to you rifle you now have almost limitless options for scope rings. When installed these bases sit pretty high on the rifle so you can probably get buy with low or medium height rings. I think I ended up with the Leapers Space Age Rings and they seem to be holding up to the abuse. I am quite happy with the scope, base and rings, and I will repeat that I think the Bushnell scope is a very nice scope for the money.

I have a Leapers 4-16x50mm AO Illuminated Red -Green Mildot reticle scope on my .22 Mrod. At first I felt that this was a little over kill but I have gotten used to it and like it now. One thing with AO scopes imo is that for target shooting they are great but hunting situations they can be a pain in the butt when it comes to a need for a fast shot. I use the AO as a range finder which works quite well when I don't have the time to use and calculate the mildot.

Here's an opinion by Greg Davis about how the Centerpoint 4-16x 40mm is a good ballistic match for the custom tuning he does on the Marauder.

If you are in the market for a scope, there are several good, decent scopes. Several are mentioned here. Another one might be the Simmons .44 Mag 8-21x44. It has side wheel parallax adjustment, target turrets and only cost about $150. I have been told they are more bright than the Leapers brand.

If you want to spend more, there are a number of good ones. All depends on what you are looking for.
Blessings,
Jeff
