Old Leapold 3-9

Postby Point Doc on Mon Nov 15, 2010 10:01 am

Hello,

I have an older Leupold 3-9x40mm Vari-X IIc Rifle Scope that I have never mounted; with all of the modern scopes available, would this be a good scope to mount on a Marauder .25 after I purchase it? Which scope rings would be appropriate?

Thanks,
John

Hi John, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it but I think it will depend more on how you intend to use it. Likewise, with virtually zero recoil (unlike springers), the Mrod is easy on optics. I'm sure low profile rings would be plenty for a 40mm AO, but not all rings (of a given profile height) are the same, you need to check the specs. I prefer having the lowest ring possible for a given AO size. Cheers. Steve
