TOTALLY CONFUSED

Postby 1SHOT1K » Tue Nov 25, 2014 2:12 pm

THOUGHT I COULD USE A SCUBA TANK TO FILL MY NEW MROD AND THEN STARTED TO READ ALL THESE POST,GOT ME ALL MESSED UP, DO THIS DO THAT?????, THOUGHT I COULD GET AWAY WITH SOME RESONABLE COSTS, BUT WHAT I AM SEEING THE CARBON TANKS ARE THE ONLY GOOD OPTION TO USE, PLUS THE HIGH PRICE TAGS WITH ALL THE THINGS NEEDED TO FILL TANK AND RIFLE ,GUESS I SHOULD HAVE DONE A LOT MORE RESERCH BEFORE BUYING MY NEW MROD,THINKING ABOUT SENDING MROD BACK ,ANY SUUGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFULL. THANKS

I had .177 & .22 Marauder
I had a Shoebox
I had a Great White Tank
I had a Guppy Tank
I still have Marauder Pistol and 1720T pistols.
I have two pumps.

I shoot just springers except for the 2 PCP pistols which are easy to pump.
I be an ol' man at 69.

I can't give advice on what to do.
But it isn't going to get any cheaper.
Good luck.

TOTALLY CONFUSED

Postby JDUB » Tue Nov 25, 2014 4:34 pm

If you tune your gun to shoot at a low fill pressure like 2500psi you can use a scuba tank. I don't use one but I'm curiouse can you fill it to 3kpsi or 3300psi?

It kind of depends on the calibre of your gun and how many fills you want to get of the scuba tank also. I pump my mrod.

$7 dollars a fill lots of shots at 800fps
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living

Scuba tanks work fine...i get a reffill every 3-5 months shoot about 10,000 +... 177 cal
99% of the time it's the shooter, not the gun.

Check with your local scuba shop for a used steel tank, mine sells used tanks already inspected and filled for 150 - 175 $. My shop fills steel tanks too 3200 psi, avoid an aluminum tank they have a short lifespan and some places won't fill them. You can get plenty of fills at a decent price they just weigh about 3x what a SCBA tank weighs.

4500 psi tanks are a great option, but 3000 psi SCUBA tanks work ok too.

As others have said, you can tune for a 2500 psi fill and get plenty of shots from your scuba tank.

We can help you tune it, but you will need to give us more info like what caliber and generation gun you have.

It would be best if you can get access to a chronograph too.
