Tanks Info for Newbies

Postby super20g on Tue Jun 09, 2009 7:54 am

I figured there may be a lot of people new to PCP air guns (like me) with the release of the Marauder making it easier to step into this scene.

I am interested to know how many fills to expect on a 80cf tank filled to 3500psi. Does anyone know how to calculate this?

Also, for other newbie's info, there are primarily (2) different valves on tanks, DIN and Yoke.

(DIN Valve)

(Yoke - K Valve)

You will need to know your valve type so that you can buy/build a fill adapter for your rifle.

You will want a pressure gage in the adapter and you need a female foster quick connect/disconnect fitting to connect to your Marauder.

(Fill Adapter for Yoke Valve)

Joe's Air Tanks can make fill adapters based on your specifications. He quoted me $169 for a DIN300 to Foster adapter... including a pressure gage, bleeder, and hose... I am still looking for other alternatives a bit cheaper than that.

I just purchased a 100 cu ft tank from a local scuba shop for $ 223.00 out the door. the first fill up is free and each fill up cost $6.00 after that. The fill station (aka fill yoke) is $45.00 bucks but doesn't have a pressure gauge on it. Just thought I would share my 2 cents and give everyone a estimate on how much tanks are.

Small Tanks for All Day Trips

Postby rbolton6 on Thu Dec 10, 2009 9:23 am

Can anyone help me out with a small refill tank that can be carried in a backpack for those all day trips.
Marauder is currently set at 2,650 PSI.
I can't find anything out there cheap that will find at the pressure.
Called Airhog yesterday and they have a new carbon fiber tank called the "Piglet"
But is costs almost as much as the gun itself.

Any idea's on a fairly cheap tank for day trips

Thanks

How much is the Piglet?

I had the same problem and I found 2 small 3000 psi 15 minute scott escape air pacs on ebay for $38 (each) then I got them hydrotested ($24 each)next I ordered a couple of adapters ($50) so I could fill the small bottles using my existing scba fill adaptor. Then when I went into the field I took a small bottle and the scba fill adapter to refill 3 times. This worked out well, but now I have something even better. I'll try to post a picture of the new setup soon.

Here is a good source for small lightweight tanks. You can fill these from your larger tank and carry them along.

I had a paintball shop put me a din valve on one of the new 4500 carbon tanks.
I get about 5 re-fills - Great for all day trips !
