The paintball tanks seem to be a good deal. What size tank did you get?

Rick, so they swapped out the entire stem/valve? This is the little mini tank right? That's a great idea. I wonder if I can put a SCBA CGA-347 valve on one? I think those mini tanks are reg'd to 2000?

Steve,
see the other threads :D . The regulation comes out with the valve, or better yet, I've found a source for tanks without any valve at all. The SCBA valve needs to be modified to fit, but that is what I want. I want one type of fitting and one type of valve to eliminate all these damn adaptors. Check your PMs :)

Damn, them valve assemblies are on there, sucker won't budge. I'm going to have to get some more info on the removal part of this project. Doesn't appear to be anything holding it on there, question is right hand or left hand thread? I know there is a special bottle vise, not like a typical bench vise for holding it tight.

Steve, I let the experts at the paintball shop do all the dirty work for me on the tank and valve.

I recall a lot of cussing and knuckle cracking behind the counter :) :)

They sold me the carbon fiber tank and I supplied the valve and let them have at it :)

I just know I have a small tank now without alot of adapters

Only problem now is it's da$%^'d near impossible to fill with my hand pump and the nearest paintball shop
costs more in gas to get to than it costs to re-fill.
And I only get about 3 re-fills from it.

Kinda wish I'd just went with a large scuba tank now :(

This stuff is starting to get pricey - glad the wife never sees any receipts :)

Finally bit the bullet and got a 80cu scuba tank and adapter
Lord what a difference. the hand pump is headed for the closet :)
I found a brand new tank for 140.00 on ebay and an adapter for 16.00
It is the exact same tank Pyramid sells for 249.00 and same adapter they sell for 65.00
Got a 3 foot whip hose for that adapter that makes it super easy to fill the rifle.

NOW :)

Anyone figured out if you can still get the same velocity off a 2,000 psi fill as a 3,000 fill.
I tried every combo of settings I could yesterday and the best I could get was 870 from the crosman CPs.
Anyone got any good settings for 2,000 psi
I ended up with H-2.25, S-4, V-4

Rick,
Congrads on the new SCUBA tank, a whole lot easier :D !

These are the 14.3 Crosman Prem. in .22 right?

Well just to give you a comparision, I'm running the EJ 16.1's and seeing 900-910 with 2650 fill and HS-4, S-.75, and V-4. I've also managed 951 with 3000 fill and HS-6, S-0 and V-4.

I know we're not comparing apples to apples (.177 vs .22) but it would seem you should be able to get more velocity out of those 14.3's.

Have you tried Ray and Hans Apelles's (the A-team) tuning procedure? http://ateam.100free.com/ateamh/A_Team_ ... edures.pdf

Good Luck, Steve

Yeah , the 22 cal CP's are 14gr.
If I change my settings back to wide open I can get them flying out there right at 1,000 fps on a 2850 PSI fill.

But I changed my settings and fill pressure down to 2,000 psi to try and get the most mileage out of the new tank.
I went thru the A-team tuning guide yesterday and today and could never get above 870 fps with the 2,000 psi fill.

If anybody out there is getting better on a 2k fill please let me know your settings.

My guess is I'm gonna have to bump that fill pressure up a bit.
But it sure is nice on the 2k fills
Been shooting non-stop for the last few days and the scuba tank is only down to 2600

Already loving this new set-up :)

Especially since hand pump number 3 just bit the dust a few days ago !!!
I gotta hand it to Crosman Customer Service though...One call to them and they already have a replacement on the way

Joe has done it again !!

Check out his 17 cubic ft carbon fiber "Guppy"

http://airtanksforsale.com/

I believe it's gonna be a little bit better than the paintball shop "rig" I had made up for me.

The wife already has my X-Mas list.....It has a "Guppy" and "Shoebox" compressor on it :D
