I'm using the shooting chrony with a light kit and I never get a error as long as remember to turn the lights on :D Before with an overhead lamp it worked pretty good but the light kit took care of all my errors.

To expand on what Doc said, don't even have fluorescent lights on in the general area. They flicker at a frequency we can't see, but they can confuse a chrony even if you are using a light kit. After all, the thing is looking for the diming caused by a little pellet flying several inches over it at very high speeds - flickering lights off to the side can have an even bigger impact.

LED lights are OK, but incandescent is the best, as the sensors work in the longer wave length red range anyways.

Tim HIll used this set-up and it might work well in your garage. He put a 15 watt incandescent bulb in each light fixture - some cheap ones he got at a Walmart-type store. Many have said make sure there are no florescent lights on in the area as they can mess up the readings.

Thanks guys I learned a lot on my chrony, I have had mine for over a year and its just to dam fun popping sparrows and pest birds to just get out and shoot through a chrony...
When I get my war stuff in I will have to set down and start tuning, I know some guys really get into it but I find it just boring, Just temped to send my gun in to Oldpro and bite the bullet and have an expert tune it for me,,,, When I get my compressor in it will make things a lot easier,,,
I have kept my Marauder .25 so I can fiddle with it, So that's what I should do,, fiddle, fiddle,
I think I have one of the more accurate .25 Marauders , When its sited in its dead on,

In the US our electricity runs at 60 Hertz. The electricity alternates through the fluorescent bulb at 60 hertz which is 60 times per second causing the flashes. The flashes will affect any photo optic type device.

From what I've seen, the 25s are all very accurate, but we have read about a few getting 25s that had accuracy problems. My first 25 M-rod is more accurate than my second 25 M-rod, but they are both relatively very accurate and capable of subMOA accuracy when the shooting set-up and conditions are good.

We get some with accurate 22 M-rods, but I've seen way more than my share of very inaccurate 22 M-rods and 22 P-rods.

To some degree, it seems the luck of the draw. The Internet forums allow us to share our experiences, so we hear about the good and the bad much more than we would without them.
