Help decide what PCP

Postby gunlocators » Sun Jul 14, 2013 8:05 pm

Ok I am on the fence about a Condor SS .25 or A Marauder .25 i probably will not do long range hunting. Sell me on the Marauder. I bought a Condor SS but was sent a .177 so it was returned now I am debating what to reorder tommorrow. I want great accuracy and a great hunting rifle...

The 25 Marauder is awesome! I love having a magazine and a shroud along with that high power and high accuracy and high impact on game.

It is a different question if you are asking about 22 caliber because the Marauder is still hit-or-miss with the accuracy with 22 Marauders. I am in the process of getting my barrel custom machined for my 22 as I tried several paths to getting my 22 Marauder accurate that all failed. My 25 is a delight with amazing (sub moa) accuracy right out of the box.

You can tune your 25 to get 16 good shots around 42 FPE. Or you can tune it to get 8 good shots around 47 FPE by adding a stiffer hammer spring. You can go even higher in power (60 to 80 FPE) if you want to do some machine work to the air path. I decided to balance power and noise output and am happy with 42 FPE in mine.

The 22 is great if you get an accurate one. I sent out my inaccurate barrel to see if a tuner can fix it, so I will let everyone know if it is accurate or not when I get it back.

I have tuned my 22 M-rod to get 50 good shots at 22 FPE which is an amazing number of shots compared to the 16 shots at 43 FPE I get with my 25 caliber M-rod.

I get 24 good shots average 16 FPE with my P-rod.

It sounded like your decision was between the Talon SS and the Marauder. My answer is applicable for the 22 Marauder too.

I was looking at the condor ss however the tank location I was not too pleased with seems it would be harder to get a fast sight picture through the scope so I hope the Marauder will be a good choice....

I've shot both and I definitely prefer my Marauders. One strong point is they have LotharWalthar barrels which are usually very accurate.

But you almost surely get an accurate 25, probably an accurate 177, and maybe an accurate 22. If you do get an inaccurate one, Crosman may keep sending you barrels until you get an accurate one.
