Also, another strange thing is that this rifle will not shoot H&N Barracudas at all. I mean it'll get 'em out of the barrel, but then you have 1" plus 29 yard groups. That just ain't right, is it?

Means your barrel doesn't like those pellets. At least at this time.
Silicon in the barrel may not have been a good idea.

Maybe not. It's RWS Chamber Lube. I guess that's silicone. In any event, another round of JB should fix it. What would you use after the JB?

I've never uses and solvent or polish to clean my 25 Green Mountain barrels in the M-rod.

When brand new, I pull a bore snake coated with Ballistol until clean then pull dry 7/8" patches until clean.

I'm sorry, but I mispoke. It was Ballistol and not RWS that I used after the JB, and I did not go crazy with the JB. Just a few strokes to loosen an crud that may have been there. Maybe Ballistol will be enough.

I guess while I am waiting I should get rid of some miscellaneous questions that are lingering.

1. The bolt seems to bind if you do not keep your finger as close to the bolt as possible while pulling it back. When I cleaned the bore, I had to remove the bolt, and I lubed it before I put it back. Helped but did not stop the behavior. Is that normal for these guns?

2. When adjusting the hammer throw, it was very tight so that I was afraid that the small 1/8" allen key might strip. Is that normal?

Thanks.

PULLING from the ball of the bolt binds it more than chocking up a bit..

tight hammer bolt is good..keeps it from changing on its own
99% of the time it's the shooter, not the gun.

Not sure I'm getting this right. You are saying you think it will be more accurate when you get the right tune? If so, the tune has nothing to do with it unless you happen to be pushing JSB's into the 900's+ or you are shooting 50+ yards. I'm inclined to think that the silicone in the barrel may be preventing the barrel from "leading in" properly. That is what your symptoms sound like to me. I can get stacked 8 shots at 30 yards with my 25. Out at 50 I hit tiny paintballs on a golf T with it. You should get the same kind of accuracy inside 50 yards without the proper tune. Even with a descending velocity tune @ 30 yards it should still make a hole about 1/2 the size of a dime. That is reasonable expectation for the 25.

How many shots have you put thought it after the cleaning? Mine took about 50 shots to settle in after a good cleaning.

If that's true then I definitely have a problem.

See above. I corrected that. It was Ballistol.

Boy, I sure would like to get there. Based upon what you said above, though, it may not happen. Bummer. I'm going to fix this, though, even if I have to send the gun back for a replacement.

How many shots have you put though it after the cleaning? Mine took about 50 shots to settle in after a good cleaning.

Maybe 600.

I've had 2 bad .25 barrels. And 1 excellent .22 barrel.

Ooooo...that's disappointing. What did you do about the bad barrels?

Yeah if you have 600 shots through after cleaning, it is starting to sound more like a barrel problem. Bummer. Call Crosman maybe? Ask for a replacement? Or possibly just buy a new barrel?

Ok, have you checked the crown of the barrel for damage? Have you checked the baffles to see it you might be clipping one on the way out?
