Man oh man what a rifle!!!!!

Postby DaveShooter on Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:38 am

I know some of you folks are long range shooters ,but I was playing around with my 2nd 25 Mrod tis-morning I got a week ago, and at close range after opening up air-flow adj i call it to 4 to 4and and quarter to a 4and a 1/2 setting from bottom. at 10 or 11 yds on an old washer mach body in my basement this thing shoots hard as all get out. I was using 31.2 H&N's and #3 buckshot and this rifle puts a extreme deep dent and even tore a hole or gash in the washer body on 2nd and 3-rd shot. This rifle will easily kill a yote as they call'em up north, to a pig with no problems what so ever. Just wish I could get over the filmilar tremors or shakes in my hands to get a more steady shot even with a rest. Go figure still groups good for an o'le shakey man.

You'd be amazed what a squirrel can take and keep going. I had one take four pellets before he fell over.
Yes, I know shot placement, but I'm shooting these guys at 40 yards.

Hey RayK, put one right between those litte eyes or ears that o'le tree rat will fill the love of hot lead. :D I know what ya are saying about being tough as nails to shoot some of those tree critters. I've shot'em all with everything ya can and have some harder that others to kill or harvest through the yrs.

Boy your not kidding, had one still breathing after a head shot at only 15 yds and then was still going after two more shots at point blank. WTF! I really felt bad after this experience and went several months before taking aim again.

funny you guys started this thread. I posted I wanted a .25 to stop crawlers and people blasted me. lol
I had marginal luck with .177 even at close range. the .22 worked 90% of the time with squirrels making it less than 5 yards. Most .25 shot squirrels seem to go lights out. I even tried a chest shot to see what happend and the squirrels drop. I think .25 is great squirrel medicine!

Slayer1962- man are you ever so right about the 25 cal mrods. I know it has alot to do with the ammo size meaning more mass to the target. Not to mention the power output of these rifle are flat out awsome. It may not be as fast in speed but it sure does makeup for it in punch. meaning lights out for the furry critters for sure..... :D

geeeeeeeee...I've hit 'em with .22 and up and stopped 'em dead in their tracks with head shots...usually doesn't leave much of their head intact...

the KZ's are so small they're easy to miss.
