Thanks, supercharged I will remember next time. vakeiros, Yes If you mean removed the cheek rest on the other side with a belt sander.This wood takes stain kinda wierd.Lots of light blondish highlights where the stain wouldnt take.I put about 5 coats on it.Looks kinda cool though,nice grain.Im gonna do my disco next.

I used a stain made by Cabot from lowes or home depot.The color is ebony.I wanted something that looked like some of the laminate stocks that I've seen

Yes,I sanded it down to bare wood.After rough sanding I started by cutting 6" off the front of the stock and reshaping the butt end and then I finished it with 80 grit,120 grit,220 grit then 400.Then it was time to stain and then about 6 coats of tung oil.I've cut an additional 2 1/2" off the front since this picture was taken.
