Velocity port access hole

Hey Guys, I was getting quickly tired of removing the stock to adjust the velocity port, what a total pain in the ass. So I decided to make a small access hole through the stock to fit the 5/32" allen key. Cosmetically it may take alittle away from the smooth appearance but after a while you don't even notice it, especially if the hole is colored with some stain. But definately makes tuning a breeze, no longer a chore with on again off again. I took some very precise measurements so that I assured myself that the hole would be exactly where I needed it. This is definatley something they should have considered in the manufacturing process. Here's some pics but anyone needing more info please feel free. Dogwood, The wood is soft and not very thick, you can basically turn the drill bit by hand, giving you total control. Good luck, you're gonna love it. Cheers. Steve

since I got my chrony going, figured it was time to do this

and you're right the wood is soft and I was able to do it by hand, good thing as I have no idea where my drill is LOL

Steve, this is awesome! Are there any other adjustment you think can be made accessible by doing this?

Randall, the other two adjustments that you'll play with are the hammer stroke length and hammer pre-load, both from the rear end cap. I choose to leave the brass jam-screw out all the time, this way making adjustments through the new access hole are easier. If after finding the right combination of settings you want to throw the jam-screw back in, that's fine. But I've never had the VP screw change on it's own even after hundreds of shots. Just take your time and measure precisely, keeping the hole to a minimum and it will all look fine when your done. Cheers. Steve

Wow - Thanks Steve! I appreciate your time in explaining all of this to me. I'm very good at woodworking, and making a metering screw hole through the wood shouldn't be much of a problem, unless the the wood has an internal knot in it. Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to making this thing work for me! How awesome.
