open sights?

has anyone ever put open sights on an Mrod?

it appears that it might be an easy operation to install an adjustable front sight on the barrel band and use a Beeman, Mendoza or any good brand of peep rear aperture such as the Air force target aperture. :?

since the reciever is grooved for scope mounts already, all that would be necessary would be to install a front sight of some sort and use the grooved reciver for a quality peep. :?

right now, a Tasco 6-24x40AO Varmint, mil-dot scope lives on it and one hole groups are almost boring but...i like open sights and would like to give it a try with my Mrod. ;)

After reading your post I thought I'd see what I could do. Rummaging through my box of airgun odds and ends,I found: a Mendoza peep sight, an RWS globe sight which the clamp had broken off, leaving a dovetail-like protrusion at the bottom of the globe, and a 1" low-mount scope ring. I mounted the globe sight in the dovetail clamp of the upside-down scope ring, wrapped several turns of gaffer's tape (which doesn't leave a residue)around the muzzle end of the shroud, just behind the end plug, and mounted the scope ring upside down on the barrel. Total installation time for the front sight was under 5 minutes. The Mendoza brings up the rear. I'll see how it shoots tomorrow.

My Marauder iron sights project worked out well. It' looks a bit ragged but shoots well. I'm keeping the gun set up this way for 10 meeter indoor shooting in my basement through the winter.
My best 10 shot grouping to date:

Some pics of the front sight:

The rear is a standard Mendoza peep sight.
