Not much different in the ranges he is shooting.

As long as I don't tighten the shroud down against the breech, it does not change very much.

at ranges that close why not go to a red/green dot, or, construct open sights of some sort?

its not so much the accuracy than to see the elevation change
99% of the time it's the shooter, not the gun.

I already got a red dot yesterday due to someone suggesting it. It sits about 10 mm lower than the scope and vertical accuracy is already much better. I get some new super low profile dovetail to weaver adapters on Wednesday that will lower it another 5-8mm

I am glad that the red dot is working well but I wanted to go way back to page one and address a comment on range estimation, there is a link below with more information.
Range estimation is possible with the mil-dot scopes in fact range estimation was part of the design criteria for the mil-dot pattern.

They make open sights that clamp to the dove tail. You would have to fabricate a blade for the front but I dont think it would be hard.

I was thinking that one could drill and tap the Barrel Band and install a setscrew for starters. Then once the height was determined fabricate a post to install. Or if it's not broke run with the set screw. But again it depends on if the Air tube flex's with pressure?

I thought about that also as well as a simple washer with a tab sticking up between the shroud and end cap. I dont think the air tube would flex enough for you to ever know it with iron sights.

The ultra low dovetail adapters came in. Now the red dot is plenty low so I don't have such a problem anymore.
Thanks for the suggestions!
