MDRL Cheek Rest/Breech Cover

Postby Doug MadDog » Thu Oct 17, 2013 9:59 am

Just wanted to let you guys know that a cheek rest/breech cover is on the way. It will be all aluminum one piece with a
built in dove tail mount and hard anodized black. Not sure how it is going to be sold till we see what it will cost to manufacture it.
Will let you know when we get closer to getting it out but it will be a well made professional part.

Multiple threads on this.

That looks well made but, it appear to add considerable height to the cheek rest. I use medium scope rings currently with a thin breach cover. This looks to be well over 0.200" that going to high rings provide. Are there extra high rings (0.400" higher) that maybe will work with it? or do they need to be higher?

What ring height are you using on yours with this cheek rest? What is the total height of the rest measured from the top of the breach?

Good Questions....I will wait for the answers as I too use medium scope rings on both my MDRLs.

Just my opinion but the one most important thing it doesn't do is cover the breech seal from blasting you in the face with 3000psi of air if you loose your breech seal.

My MDRL Cheek Piece arrived about 2 weeks ago. I was using medium rings and was unable to get a good position or sight picture. The cheek rest is to tall and uncomfortable on your cheek bone, due to attempting to get a good sight picture. I ordered tall scope rings and didn't have much more luck with tall rings. The cheek piece is to tall and I am not sure if the next taller scope rings would be any better. Tomarrow I will try using the Weaver to 11mm adapters and tall 11mm scope rings. If I have to go taller than that Im not sure if the scope will be able to adjust that far down. I will let you guys know tomarrow if I have any luck with the adapters.

Can you post some pictures from different angles of the gun with the cheek piece?

Maybe we can get some ideas to help.

There are picture in the link above,,, way too tall
99% of the time it's the shooter, not the gun.

Thanks! Those pictures are useful.

I'd take it to a disk sander and sand down the height to make it fit my cheek weld. It looks like there is plenty of material that could be removed before you get close to the metal bracket. I don't know how that screw fits in the picture, but maybe it could be inset deeper too.
