WAR Marauder Moderator or shroud extension??

My synrod never had the burp sound, but the WAR NBH did quiet things down a bit, 3d depinger did what it was supposed to do, and a piece of hair curler sponge stuffed into the spring eliminated any twang. The only trouble is now I cant adjust the HT without digging out the sponge.

That's a cool idea! But I can see what you mean about needing to pull it out whenever you want to adjust HT. Maybe you could attach a fishing line through the sponge with a small loop near the opening so you can pull it out.

Travis at WAR has another way to handle the hammer spring twang, but I'll let him talk about it since I have not yet tried it.

Ray, I think I got the curler sponge idea from Travis to start with. But thinking this over again, I might try to stretch the sponge over the outside of the spring, only about half inch midway, leaving the inside open for HT access.

Sounds good! Let us know how it works. I wonder if the sponge might affect the shot string consistency.

After extensive testing the shroud extension won the sound battle with an average of 94db and a high of 97db. The war moderator had an average of 98dm with a high of 100db. These were measured from a .22 mrod in my garage. The ambient noise level in between each shot was approximately 68-75db. I am keeping both as I feel I can improve each with more sound absorbent insulatiion and its nice to have 2 different lengths to work with as well with the extension @6in and the moderator @8in. I liked both very much and if you're looking to quiet your gun significantly, these 2 are must have's. They are not gimmicky or just for show, they are fully functional and absolutely hit it out of the park as far as performance imho. YMMV.
