New Mrod 22

Postby warrior23 on Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:52 pm

I just started to get my new Mrod 22 going and I cant seem to get this thing sited in it puts 2 shots on target then the next 2 are about 3inches low at 20yds.I had a new simmons scopre on it with a bsquare mount,I even swapped out the scope and it doing the same exact thing. This is off a bench so stability isnt a problem either. These are the pellets Im using:Beeman match 13.73g/Benjamin Disc 14.39/Gamo match 15.43/Gamo hunter 15.43.I've put 3 to 4 mags of each thru the gun and they all seem to be doing the same thing from center to 3 inches low..

Welcome to the group! You will find that some pellets group, others are all over. Crosman Premiers seem to work in most guns, but if you read all the posts you'll find people had success with a lot of different pellets. It gets expensive, but you need to find the pellet that works in your gun. I'm a new owner (3 weeks) and still wringing out the best of my .22. Good luck! :)

Congrats on the new gun. Premiers are a good call, preferably the ones in the box, as the one's in the tins are much more inconsistent in size and weight.....

If you can find some 5.53mm JSB exacts in 15.9gr, they shoot really well in all the Mrods I've shot (15 so far)....anything with a head diameter larger than .216 have shot astonishingly well in the Mrods I've tested and tuned......

Nothing I own will shoot anything made by Gamo at all.....that is a BSA Lonestar(and it will shoot almost anything else very well and isn't pellet picky at all), a BSA Lightening XL, A Marauder, a match-barreled B26, a Crosman Nitro and a Crosman 2250XT....

So not a fan of the Gamo pellets (or much else for that matter) at all. Keep us posted on your results...just adds to the database of information for all of us out here....

Ok,Ive been thru a dozen different pellets so far and the only ones that seem to group well are Beemans Kodiak 21.double golds,I also picked up some CPs 14.3 in hp at WALLY WORLD and they shot like a shotgun pattern, does anyone know if the domed will perform the same way,Im awaitng 2 boxes of CPs domed to arrive I hope I have better luck with these.

Try the H&N Baracuda Match 5.52 pellets (not the 5.51 versions). These are the same as Kodiak 21 grain pellets, but with a slightly larger head diameter. I just ordered some from Pyramid Air. Hopefully they are true 5.52mm (.21732")

I have shot 1/2" groups using the Predators and Kodiak's, but most everything else is not very accurate from my 22cal MRod.

W23 Welcome; Sounds like somethings going on thier. Try cleaning barrel w/oil patch on pull through w/ Dunken Donut straw w/stripe on it (fit's perfect) through Baffels,Or take out Baffels. Now dry patches,Patch must be tight. until patch looks new comming out of Muzzle. Baffels while thier out clean them out check for clipping .Tighten Stock screw, scope screws, Shoot 50 r. w/pellet of choice to season Barrel .Now shoot 500 more, check group's now. If no good now call Crosman tell them what You did. and send it back, they will Fix or replace it. Good Luck W23 and Welcome Again.....Franky PS 5.52 or 5.53 Baracuda Match are best

The Predators measure very close to 5.53mm (.21772) and shoot the most cosistant (less flyers) in my MRod. I mostly shoot 3/4" groups with this rifle/pellet combo at 25 yards. The Kodiaks group tighter, but I always get that dreaded flyer within 5 shots. Flyer usually wanders about 1" off target.

I have two new 22cal. Marauder barrels on order. I am hoping atleast one of these new barrels shoots better than my factory original. I will push pellets down the bore of each barrel to check if there is a bore size difference, hoping that one may have a slightly tighter bore. I will also compair the choke end of barrells to see if there are differences there also.

I will keep tuning and tinkering until maybe one day it will shoot better. I am still learning. Good luck and do not give up.
