Slow Leak?

New rifle (arrived with 1000 psi), pumped to 3000 and next day 500? Pumped up yesterday to 2000 and holding steady, where do I start looking for slow leak? Thanks in advance Peashooterjoe

Is it new, or new to you. Factory new rifles usually don't leak (but is possible - call Crosman for a warranty repair), a used but new to you, who knows what was done to it before.

Since it's holding steady, you may want to wait. Maybe the O-rings are/have seated properly.

If it's still leaking down, you could try to find the leak by using a small diameter - piece of pipe or tubing. With one end held to your ear, place the other end to the fill nipple, gauge/gauge port area, open the bolt and check the barrel port, check at the back - inside the pressure tube cap (HT and HS adjustment point).

If you still haven't found the leak and as a last resort, check with a soap and water mixture (preferably using a sprayer or dabbing) for bubbling/bubbles. When finished, remember to remove any/all of the remaining solution and wipe the rifle with WD-40, Ballistol, or equivalent.

Depending on where you find the leak, you may have to (degas the rifle) reseal the gauge or fill nipple threads or replace the gauge; or replace the fill nipple's O-ring. If the leak is due to a; fill valve housing, gauge port, or valve body O-ring, you would have to disassemble the rifle (almost completely) to replace any of these, so you may consider going ahead and replacing all 4 of the #118 O-rings (7/8"I.D.x3/32"C.S.x1-1/16"O.D.), coat them with silicone before installing. If the leak is at the barrel port, you may have a piece of debris stuck between the valve/valve seat.

We have seen many of the recent on-gun pressure gauges leaking. September, I got a new P-rod with one of the newer gauges (without the Benjamin printed on it) and it started to leak after a few months. I swapped in a different gauge and it has not leaked since. I fill to 3000 and it stays at 3000 psi.

My marauder is a year old and I had a leak develop. Actually a couple! Slight leak around the foster fitting and the gauge itself. I retaped the threads of both and it took care of that. I went ahead and replaced all the internal o-rings also. It's really kinda nice to take everything apart and learn how it all goes. After everything replaced it holds air great!

Hadn't shot my Marauder in a few months (winter), only to find all air pressure had leaked off. Refilled to 3000# nitrogen. Few days later, found all pressure had leaked off again. In the process of refilling again, @ 2500# I heard a very slight leak coming from the vent on the Marauder gauge, the indicator pointer was skewed off it's center pivot, then the lens popped out.

I was surprised that the gauge failed since the rifle was purchased new only six (6) months ago. Never mishandled and always stored in a padded case. Although, after removing the gauge, I found it to be cheaply made.

Decided to purchase a quality aftermarket gauge replacement, all is good now.

If Crosman paid $2 for each of those on-gun gauges, they paid too much. They are junk.

Purchased my new marauder in November 2014. Lost air as well. Soapy water test around the gauge fitting resulted in bubbles. Removed gauge, used Teflon tape on the fitting and reset same gauge. Perfect. Emailed Crosman about the problem and they sent me a new one even though I didn't need it.

sent my Synrod 25 back to PA and they sent back a new one 2 day shipping...a hassle to box it up but glad I did. Wish quality control would test more thoroughly.
