Hey Guys, Has anyone tried the Predator Polymags (8.0 g) or the Crosman Destroyers (7.9 g)? I'd also like to know the general head size of both if you have some on hand to measure. Thanks. Steve

Don’t be afraid to experiment. Yes there are limitations to the design but as you have seen there are great efficiencies to be found in the pressure range you are tuning for. You are close on your current settings but all valves will produce different results with the same settings. Closing off your velocity screw a bit more may give you less air use without too bad a hit on velocity. Then play with your striker length some more, be careful not to go too far out though. I’ve found funny things happen out past 9 turns. Not to get too deep into it but I believe contact angles and hammer momentum are challenged out that far.
Try offsetting a little more striker travel with a bit less on the velocity screw, I think you will see good results with a less deviation between shots.
Best of luck,
Regards
Paul

I will give this a try and report back. Very surprised that I can get increasing pellet velocity while pressure is declining. The force required to open air valve as pressure decreases must be part of this.

The Destroyers are way too undersized to bother with. Kodiak 10.5 gr match have been consistent, while the cheap Cross Prem Hollow Points have created the smallest (<0.5" @ 55 yds.), but tend to have 1 out of the five pellets open groups to ~ 1.1". I've found the cleanliness of the bore is a significant factor in getting the tighest groups.

My Predator Polymags are not the most accurate and shoot about .50" at 25 yards. Head size measures .1762 -.1770"

I used the dial caliper and fall thru method to measure.

I'm new to this forum just received mrod, haven't heard anyone say much about crossmen hunter pointed pellets. I've been getting better groups than cph my rifle seem to like it alot  . I've sent for another ten tins of 500 for under $5 cheap shooting, love the trigger on my mrod. It's nice to get some trigger time at low cost. By the way BSA 3X9X40 AO Mil is working out great ordered 5 for under $27 what a deal.
