Anyone get a new 177 Marauder? How does it perform?

Postby RayK on Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:39 pm

Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a Marauder in 177 caliber recently.

Are they still shooting good? Anyone know how they compare to the accuracy of the 25?

Ray:

Yes I got mine a couple of weeks ago, and it is a great gun for the money. It took about 20 minutes to sight in, and has help POI extremely well since then. I've probably ran about 5-600 of rounds through it, and get 30-40 shots per charge.

I left everything at factory settings. Shot groups using JSB exact heavy @ 10-20 are usually same whole, 20-40 about a nickle, with spreads maybe to a quarter. I will be using mostly for FT competetion so I went with a 4X16 with a 56 AO Leapers with high rings, this has caused a few problems because of the heigth.

The only thing I intent to change is the comb height, adjustable but pad. length of first stage and remove the extra spring on the trigger. So far I am very pleased with the whole package.

You will definitely enjoy it.

Yes

I just got mine, really nice, seems to shoot better, well much better than it should. I have a custom Daystate FT rig and an AA400, and this not so little but cheapy is quite the shooter. Using my bipod and beach chair I put 10 shots inside a 3/8 hole at 30 yards. No bad for American made, by Crosman no less, toy gun. Will really put it through the ringer and report back when I get round toit.

Great gun. Can't believe that I don't have to drive to the range to get my rifle fix. Shoots ~ 1.5 moa. I should really get a chrono to fine tune. Accuracy, not power at 25 - 55 yards is my preference.

i just got my 177 mrod ...been shooting alittle last couple of days(winter here very cold outside) basically sighting in the scope(bushnell trophy 6x18)......shooting off my deck using a sandbag... was scared before i shot it the 1st time cuz i was afraid it would not be a good one!...well i could tell in short order that this gun was gonna be a keeper...i was hitting the nailheads on an old club house i built for my kids 20 years ago...groups were approx .500 to .625 inches...btw i just got my 25 cal mrod and its a shooter to...paintballs @ 40 yds are not safe...i could only see alittle more than half of the paintball in my scope(6x18 bushnell trophy) because of were i had the paintballs laying...and i still managed to nail them...only thing was because they were on a plastic crate ...when that fat 25 cal. pellet hit the plastic crate after splattering the paintball the impact of the pellet knocked most of the other paintballs down on the ground...so out of 15 painballs i only got to shoot about 3 of them...anyways the accuracy is OUTSTANDING out of the .177 and the .25 benjamin marauders...so if your on the fence for one of these fine air rifles...go ahead and pull the trigger on one of them...you wont be sorry!

5 weeks and 1500 rounds later, I can't get enough of this gun. Kodiak Heavy Match are the most accurate with Cros Premiers, both heavy and light, second. Using 2 hammer spring, 2 stroke and 1.25 out valve. Run pressures of 2200 to ~1500 psi.

i got my M-Rod this past week and so far fired i would guesstimate 30- 40rds. I finally went to sight it in with my Leapers 3-9x50 AO scope and used the Benjamin Discovery 10.5gr Hollowpoints which worked very well in the rifle. Its a very quite gun hard hitting when you tune the velocity on the gun i have the benjamin hand pump which works great so far. I'm now looking to get the Scuba Tank setup when i have some extra money the pump makes you so tired you don't want to shoot after pumping. For those of you who do have the pump i'm sure many of you who have it already, i suggest you let drop to about 1,000 - 1,500 psi and pump back up to the recommended 2900psi or 200bar that will take you i would guesstimate never really counted maybe 80pumps. Overall its a fantastic backyard/ field hunting gun / target shooter I also got Crosman Premier domed heavy 10.5 gr pellets two boxes of 1250ct can't wait to try those out i hear they are really good with the mrod. BUY THIS GUN IN ANY CALIBER YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED.

P.S.

If any of you know a good way to deping the Mrod let me know thx.

Hi MrodHunter86, Welcome to the family. Glad to see the new Mrod is shooting well. There's many discussions here on the depinger, like this one; viewtopic.php?f=28&t=661. Easy and cheap! Good luck. Steve
