Are you keeping rough count? How many have you sent on to squirrel heaven?

Lucky you that they have a large army and plenty of replacements.....

Ray

Oh maybe 20+....

This is exactly what I wanted. 100% stock. Keep in corner out the way, charged, but with pellet thingy removed. Look out back window, see squirrel eyeing garden, grab gun, pop in pellet holder, ease back door open, prop on door jamb, headshot every time. Might have missed once I think.

These are city squirrels, gotta keep everything under the radar...

Bringing this back up for update:

With full hunting season going full bore right now, I'm bowhunting every spare minute and weekend. Mrod hasn't seen much action...until...this past weekend. One of my intended uses when I got into airguns a few years back was to haul one with me in a tree or blind, and possibly shoot squirrels if the deer weren't cooperating.

So I finally did just that this past Friday in a beautiful oak flat in another state that I hunt regularly. At about 830am I couldn't stand it anymore. Took the gun off the treehook, and proceeded to knock down 7 squirrels. Holy cow that was fun!! When I got down to gather them up, one crawled off unseen.

So the real reason I'm writing is to get a layman's question answered: on this Burris Timberline AO scope, it has the variable objective on the far end of scope. While hunting, how do you handle this practically? Set on medium/average expected range of shot and go with it? Try to adjust yardage before each shot? Use a rangefinder, then adjust for best results?

Just curious about this for roaming hunting where the distances change constantly. I'm no techie and just prefer to shoot and enjoy. But I recall having blurred scope picture once and forgot why in the heat of squirrel battle. :?

If you have 4500 psi SCBA, tune for 3000 or even 32000 psi and get max power.

Wow, you really ARE going for max power if you are charging to 32000 psi.

It used to be common to fill 25 M-rods to 3200 psi for 16 good shots per fill - usually shooting JSB kings from 860 to 880 then back down to 860 or maybe a little higher velocity, but with a small ES of 20 FPS.

For a short time, I had all my M-rods tuned for higher pressure fills, but I missed getting many fills from my tanks. I re-tuned two of them back to 2500 psi fill - including my 25 with all the WAR high energy parts. I'm just getting started with that gun. When the heavy pellets get here (from Nat450), I'm going to follow his pioneering work and try to get something close to 100 FPE from that gun - even if it is only for three shots per fill. Then that will be my coyote gun.

I have four property-owners asking me to kill their coyote pests, but I just can't get out at the times they like to come around.

25 W-rod | 8 shots @ 70 FPE -2% | 3100 fill
25 M-rod | 40 shots @ 35 FPE -4% | 3100 fill
22 M-rod | 51 shots @ 25 FPE -4% | 3100 fill
17 M-rod | 60 shots @ 19 FPE -4% | 2500 fill
25 P_rod | 16 shots @ 28 FPE -4% | 2100 fill

That was an attempt at humor. You accidentally typed 32,000 instead of 3,200.
