Possible 177 cal Regged Mrod2 Build?

Postby FuzzyGrub » Fri Aug 01, 2014 8:54 am

OK, after deciding against a double tube synrod to convert to 30 cal, now looking on the other end of the spectrum. Thinking of using a 25 cal breech with a CF sleeved 177 barrel and 177 bolt. Possibly converting to a LW barrel, down the road. Trying to sort out regulator options now. Seems like a no brainer to use one of Scott's hammers. Will do slight mods to valve, and probably go to lighter valve spring (its a 25 cal valve).

Needless to say, finding myself reading allot of Scott's regulator threads. :)

It is all doable ... as for regulator, Finding recent outstanding results using a domestic made regulator made by Roy ( AKA: Milo74 ) over on the GTA.
It is a universal type requiring tube drilling for vent ... but well worth that effort IMO ;)

I have been reading that thread over and trying to understand what the advantages/disadvantages over the AGE reg are. From what I can tell, the Milo74 has more flexibility. It seemed more like a custom reg, too. Does he have a website or just IM at GTA?

No web site .. just PM or e-mail contact.
Like many in the hooby, his regulators are a side biz from having a regular job :x
Roys is being a machinist working with CNC machines.

Roys Regs are LONGER due to the fact he is using More bevel washers in his spring stacks ... this makes reg more responsive able to open seat further and faster getting quicker recovery & having IMO better set point consistency / accuracy.

Having the opportunity to use and fool with LOTS of regulators ... best I have found so far and made in the USA too :D

REGULATED to 1500 i get over 150 shots with 177 @ 650 fps

i shoot for several months on one scuba tank.(mrod and pistols).refill when i hit 2000

and i shoot at least 200-400 a day.
99% of the time it's the shooter, not the gun.

OK, on to the hammer. That thread says you used a 19 gram hammer, but noticed the for sale ones are listed at 26-28 gram. Is the 19 gram all nylon?
