That is so funny! I also got my regulator and LW hammer advice from Motorhead, installed and went shooting Sunday. It is also shooting 10.34 grain AAs at a very consistent 890 FPS! Almost exactly what you're getting.

I got lower velocity, but only if I rushed the shot. I counted that I need to wait a count of about 5 seconds for the regulator to stabilize. If I shot in less than 5 seconds, the velocity would be lower than 890. I have the un-modified screw in the reg (because it is not mine, I didn't want to make any modifications), but I would like to try grinding off the threads on one side of that screw.

Instead of shooting 80 pellets over the chrony, I refilled to 3000 psi and went hunting. I shot 30 pellets (mostly small pest birds), but I ran out of time.

I am at zero preload, but at full throw, so my next adjustment is reducing the throw 1 or 2 turns, to try get a better off reg shots.

I am still amazed at what the LW hammer is capable of. For something that is so light, you wouldn't think you would get half the power you do.

Did you do any gauge block or valve mods? I think you have a different reg though. Mine is the type you have to drill the hole in the air tube.

I'm using the regulator from Airgun Exporter, and I ground the threads flat on one side with a bench top belt sander. I feel like my rebound time is almost neglible, but my FPS does fluctuate more than most of you guys. At short range it makes no difference at all. At longer range it might make some, but my self imposed limit is only about 50 yards.

I would note that my first shot after a fill, or after the gun has set for a while is a faster, so the regulator does creep up slightly over time. The amount does not seem to be different from 1/2 an hour to 1/2 a day though.

The first time I took it out shooting, I shot 30 shots at critters and was headed back to my bench set-up and looked at my fill gauge and (mistakenly) thought, "I'm really low, something must be wrong" Then I remembered, it is always at 1700 psi because it is reading the pressure downstream of the regulator. Old habits die hard. This is my first experience shooting a PCP with a regulator.

I am using int3man's bored out AGE regulator that replaces the gauge block. His buddy bored out the core of the regulator to provide more plenum volume. My HT is 0 and my HS is 0. I was hoping for 900 fps, but 890 is close enough.

BTW, I went full in on HS to give max hammer spring preload and velocity only went up a modest 5 fps to 895 fps. I don't know why other than maybe my transfer port or plenum volume is limiting the air flow.

Now I must decide if I should try to convince Michael to sell me his reg and LW hammer. ;)
