It is a falling curve: 895, 892, 889, 889, 885, 884, 877, 876...
It is interesting that you adjust the set point to match to the gun. About how much to make on increments of change, 50psi?

On the front (3Kpsi) I saw: 878, 884, 887, 896, 893, 895, 893, and then stable. Is that normal? or maybe just the reg settling in? My simplistic view would seem you should be able to go higher fill 3.2K, and not effect it. Or is it typical to have a tight range on the input pressure?

I've read about getting "cycles" on the reg, but this already seems very consistent outside of the ends.

Spring is an untouched stock item, so could easily have the issues you mentioned. Will fix.

To get a better handle on what pressure changes and strike do as you come off regulation ... incremental 100# min changes ... fine tune from there ;)

On refill did not see the same behavior at the top of the string. The first shot was high, but the gauge on the reg side was also indicating high. I found some threads that lead me to believe this is normal for 1st shot after filling on reg'ed guns. I am going to wait to adjust reg, until the new barrel arrives and have that prepped and ready to install. In the meantime, I will lower the power level some, to see what that off reg curve should look like.

The current settings have the throw at full CCW, preload at two turns in, and velocity to 4.5 turns out. Will going for a shorter throw and higher preload provide any shot count gains? Shooting these long strings is starting to be a pain. I think I'll start filling to just 2K, and shoot down past set point.

Received a new Mrod 177 barrel. Pellet push through was similar to the existing (loose), so was expecting poor accuracy. Fitted it to my PMrod with no shroud. Shooting in same hole at 10yds. :) First few shots were over 1000 fps w/jsb 10.3s. Turned it down to the low 900's. Even at 1000, they were hitting same hole. Maybe this is a good one, but need to distance test first. I will hold off on ordering a LW barrel, for now.

All three of my 177 barrels were over-sized on the ID. The only pellet I could get to shoot well is the over-sized 4.52 AA pellets.

I say just save yourself tons of time and frustration and get a LW barrel from a reputable machinist like Jim Gaska, but you could ask him to push some pellets through first to ensure it is engaging the 4.50 diameter pellets properly.

Jim doesn't stock the LW barrels anymore. You have to purchase and have it sent to him to machine it.

I am still hashing out what length and if I will bother with a shroud. Given the large diameter, I think it is better just to CF sleeve (for appearance) and a LDC. At least, that is the way I am leaning today. ;)

The new 177 barrel from crosman is much better. It is now installed in the reg gun and with "sloppy" shooting, consistently hitting the 1" spinner at 50yds. I haven't done any shooting for tight groups at 50 yds, but it passed the 1 hole at 10yds, to get to the 50yd spinner. I have switched to the 177 breech, and will have a 177 LW barrel fitted to the 25 cal breech.

Shooting full strings is starting to be a pain! ;) I had turned the preload to full CCW, which put me at ave 889 fps (10.3g).

Got 82 shots before coming off reg. The off reg string dipped a little came back up and dropped again. I think I can go a touch lower, and would get to 90 shots.

The 82 shots had a Es of 10fps, but with a few outliers removed, it would be 7fps.

Your at a point in velocity / consistency and ES figures that rival the best figures i have achieved in 2 years of R&D testing and tweaks with the .177 cal rifles :D
If you can find more ? .. that is just awesome, wishing you all the best ;)

It is only because grasshopper has listened to everything master has said. :D

or it was a "lucky" string that won't repeat, the next time.
