Sorry if this is old news to some of you, I just don't recall seeing it:
A while back I ordered some new baffles for my .22 Mrod. You know, the ones that are all sized for the .25 now. I was getting everything together for assembly and noticed a difference between my early .22 baffles and the new replacements. Inside the .22 baffle, it's smooth. Inside the new, .25-sized baffle, there are ridges, like very shallow threads. Looking at the bottom of the baffles, into the cups, it looks like the new ones have a bigger outer diameter. This isn't the case; it's really an illusion. The new baffle wall is thinner, due to the thread-like ridges, which makes the inner diameter slightly larger.
I know pics seem like they would be a good idea right about now, but I don't think the difference in size is going to translate well to pics, and I doubt the slight ridges can be seen in pics. Still, I thought it was worth mentioning. I'm not seeing how they would need to be grooved for production. It seems like an attempt to slow the air and reduce the noise. Any other thoughts on why are welcome.
