Marauder Pistol, favorite pellets?

Postby twohsieh on Mon Dec 13, 2010 5:56 pm

Just got number 17 in the mail today. Took about 3 weeks after a delivery goof. Kim at crosman 2nd day air to me the pistol. But my first 50 pellets through are not grouping well, at 15 yards very irratic, anyone else have this issue, using jsb exact kings. And crosman premiers.

My # 45 does the same thing.
I didn't have time to take it apart or even test it thoroughly yet, but initial impression is not favorable.
It doesn't group for me with different pellets.

I am not sending mine back to crosman.
I just need some time to make it work. Everything else (but accuracy) like compactness, repeater, quietness, etc.. is already there. I will re-barrel it, if I have too, but most likely polishing and maybe re-crowning should do.

Anyone else have experiences to post on the accuracy of the MP? haven't had much time to play with mine recently.

Had a little time with pistol today. It gets dark early :-(
No re-barreling will be needed. With hammer spring almost all the way in it produce with 14.3gn Crosman HP 680-690 fps.
At 15 yrd they still give almost an inch group.
Things changed then I tried again 18 gn JSB (5.52). One hole groups (literally) at this distance for 24+ shots. After that I was loading one by one another 5-6 pellets before the POI moved down about 1/4 in. I didn't crony it with JSB 18gn yet, but POI is about 1/2 lower then CPHP 14.3gn at 15 yrd.
I will still take it a part and tune a bit, but now it looks much better even with expensive appetite. Longer shroud is definitely in order as well.

Edit: JSB 18gn shot at 630 fps with the same settings.

Here is 25 yard 16 shot group using Beeman FTS pellets. Predators are slightly more accurate and will fit in the 8 shot Marauder pistol magazine.

Factory settings and 3000psi fill

Mine loves the 18.1gr JSB Exact Diablos. I can stack them at 30yards no problem in the carbine setup..

I like the soft Crosman Premier Hollow Point Pellets in this low velocity pcp pistol.
