P Rod problem

Hi,
Haven't posted on here in a while...but have been happy with my Prod. I recently changed to a .118 TP, 3 ring BStaley tune and a # 45 hammer spring. I was getting an impressive 22.7 fpe, and 865fps to 826fps for 8 shots using 14.3 g crosman domes. Wanting to try for a better tune air wise, I retuned, pulled the trigger and dumped the tank. Tried tuning several different ways and had the same issue...dumps a good bit and stops by itself...gives a good loud buzz! Will take it apart and check later. Any pearls of wisdom are welcome.

I would take it apart and look for corrosion near the poppet and/or valve seat.

There may be debris between the poppet and the valve seat.

Or there may be galling in the hammer slide area that is causing the hammer to stick down against the valve pin.

Took hammer out and can see no obvious galling...must be valve. Will post my findings....stay tuned!

Could it be the bstaley mod where the orings are turning and getting between the hammer and valve after you cock it?

or your 45# spring is too long and/or too strong that it is holding the valve open.

Thanks again guys...Think I found the problem....upon closer inspection, the small acetal pin on top of the hammer is missing, I probably overlooked it when assembling the gun. is there anything I can use rather than ordering a new piece from crosman?

Vibra-Tite VC3 on the hammer bolt threads would be a better choice than the pin.

FWIW: That pin does not go on top the hammer. It goes into a blind hole before installing the striker. If you did not remove the striker, it is probably still in there. Is the striker loose when you turn it, ie turns very easily? Many have just tapped that hole and used a set-screw and a small piece of mono fishing or hedge trimmer line. Especially if using a BSB where a very slight change in throw can change the tune drastically. There are threads on how to do that somewhere on the forum.
