Don't have graphs or charts on this one ... but just for comparison information ( You may wish to crunch air use data ) I have some info on what a 1701 w/1720 air tube with regulator & LW hammer can do. ( No SSG devise )

Basically a 1720 w/ 10" barrel my HFT regulator equipped w/ LW hammer pistol does this ...

Shooting JSB 7.33 pellets at @ 740 fps does so for @ 43 shots on a 3k fill with reg set @ 1300#

Hammer does not appear to have any bounce, muzzle report is silly quiet and shot vibration is nearly non existent.

Interested to here how efficiency numbers crunch ?

Actually from a shot count, that is not too different than what I have. I am surprised you used a full 1000psi for the 16 shots. Maybe that is just a before SSG?

While I didn't take a measurement, the SSG used significantly less air than a BSB solution. So far, BSB shot strings outperform any SSG on 1720T/Prod I've seen. I do plan to test a combined BSB/SSG but have to order a heavier spring.

FWIW: Your forum is one of those "blocked" sites, when you happen to be using a secure network. But, so is the WAR website. ie Home access only ;)

I have not found as of yet the SSG a viable option for the Prod unlike in the marauder rifles its AMAZING. Lots to do with short hammer throw and small reservoir etc. but I think when combined with some valve work it might shine.

Yes, the Prod is very spring size limited. It looks like I can go up one spring size to 0.045 dia wire. With 0.047, it looks like I could get enough travel to cock, if no preload, and a 0.051 may bind with even no preload. I suspect, you ran into a similar barrier on the 25 cal prod, and had to mod the valve, etc.

Im running a .047 spring and it works well but For a customer gun its too much cocking effort so The only way to reduce cocking effort and get a 3k fill string is with valve mods. Otherwise its just not a good option.

I found a heavier spring in the stash today and was able to get to and above the BSB power level. I tried a range of gaps and preloads on the SSG with the BSB. Best strings only matched the BSB by itself. I will probably try a few other combos this weekend, but at this point not looking promising.

Any good news? It would be awesome if you could get this working.

No, I reverted back to just BSB after the last post. I have not seen any data from others that would have me go back and try anything different, either. If you have a reg, or want to mod valve for a lower psi tune, then a SSG in a prod/1720T might be worth more experimentation.
