Barrel cleaning verification.

Postby USAF VET » Tue Sep 30, 2014 4:10 pm

I'm getting ready to clean the barrel on my current generation MRod and PRod for the first time.
I just want to confirm that the following procedure is correct.
1 - remove shroud
2 - remove the 4, 4-40 screws from the top of the breech
3 - remove the bolt stud & slide out bolt
Do I have it right?
Thanks,
Ron

If your gun is shooting well, I wouldn't clean the barrel.

If you are having accuracy issues, I'd remove it and clean it (at least that is how I prefer to do it).

What you described is nearly right, but there is a transfer port sleeve between the lower and upper you will need to remove. There are two square seals on that sleeve you need to be sure you remove before you slide the barrel out of the breech.

Beware there is an o-ring inside the breech end of the barrel. You don't want to damage that while cleaning the barrel.

Can you clean the barrel by shooting cotton cleaning pellets?
