nice dry scuba air is the way to go...

Yes, rub silicone grease around all o-rings before installing them. No excess, just a light coat.

Thanks Ray, hey SHOOTINIT, how do you think the SCUBA compressors dry their air? I would assume using desiccant filters or some sort of water seperator, so if I can fab an efficient desiccant filter I hope to eliminate the problem. I cant afford a $500 to $600 tank, and for something that exspensive with a limited lifespan and having to pay to have (air) compressed into it, is hard to take...??? :? So my main goal as of right now, is to re-assemble this thing and fix the (disaster)....I mean pump. Any more tips or tricks throw 'em at me. Thanks guys (and girls) ;)

If you are committed to hand pumping and you have a shop compressor, you can boost the input to your hand pump from your shop compressor to help eliminate moisture from your air before it goes into your hand pump.

You can add dessicant filters at appropriate points to help too.

Lots of guys have done it with good results. And you can fill your airgun with about half as many strokes per fill.

I tried it and it works, but keep the feed pressure below 20 psi or you won't be able to compress the hand pump.

Thanks Ray, you seem to be pretty knowledgable about the marauders. I would love to have tank but can't afford one right now, but if I can dry the air for the pump, I should be fine. What do scuba comp use to dry air? If I filter the pump it should be the same concept as a scuba comp. so until I can afford one, I have to make a decent desiccant filter.

BTW, Ray, that is a very interesting configuration/concept. I know shop compressors are moisture collectors, so I assume you put a disiccant filter on the intake of the comp., as well as the outlet...is this correct??? Also, how does one know when to change or replace the filter, or how often :?: I would assume they don't last forever. Do you know if it is possible to (re-pack) the Harbor Freight filters, or are they throw away items??? Thanks guys!

I use a large clear under the sink water filter filled with desiccant between the air compressor and pump. It works very well. It changes color to let you know when to change it.

I glued a piece of 1/2" conduit to suck the outgoing air from the bottom and put a piece of foam on the top to keep the beads inside.

You need glue that is good for polyethylene.
