Pellet lube

Postby Metaldemon7 on Mon Jul 04, 2011 7:37 am

I have read here that people use "Clean Lube" by White lighting. Wally world by me doesn't sell it, but they have "Easy Lube" by White Lighting. I bought a bottle, and have been using it on my bike. I found "Clean Lube" at a sporting goods store, and bought it. The two products look exactly the same, except the "Easy Lube" seems to have twice the wax base when they settle out. They both have the same blue carrier liquid. I have been using the "Clean Lube" on my pellets. Do you think there is any difference in the two?

I use KryTech which is a chain lube. Most FT shooters use KryTech by choice. Alot of guys have said that White lighting will do the same.

I shoot dry unlubed... never had a issue with accuracy out of my .25. Just make sure you clean the bore on a regular basis when you use lubed pellets, they tend to create faster fouling of the bore imo. I was going to experiment and try some chain wax I use on my crouch rocket's chain. It dries up to a nice semi-soft wax that wont attrached dust and lead. Im hoping that this will solve the rapid bore fouling issue that happens with wet lubes.

Mornin', Busey.

The Krytech used by some (myself included) is exactly that; a dry-film wax intended for chains.

If you have good luck shooting them dry, but decide to use the Krytech wax, treat it like your vehicles and try lightly buffing it off (massage into carpet or between microfiber towel) instead of leaving the excess wax residue.

I'll try this in my .25 as well, I think, to see if it gives a little something extra to the Polymags, in terms of accuracy at longer ranges. I tried it in my .22 but the current barrel isn't up to evaluating anything regarding accuracy.

Cool... Thanks for the heads up Neuron. Ill give the Krytech a try on the Predators and see how it works out. Ive been happy so far with the accuracy out of my .25 but any little extra perfomance I can get out of it is worth it.

I was shooting outside this weekend, first time Ive used the Mrod outside in awhile lol. I cant believe how friggin accurate a pellet rifle can be. I put the Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16x50mmsf on the Mrod and I havent looked back once lol. The image that comes through that tube is just amazing. It really does blow Nikon out of the water.

ive never been a bushnell guy I always thought they were lower end until I decided to look through a Elite up at the Kittery trading post. One look through the tube and I was sold and now that Ive been using it outside I am even more satisfied. The depth perception and color rendering is unreal... Anyone looking for a new scope I would suggest going for a 4200 Elite or even better a 6500 Elite!

Great to hear the good review of the Bushnell Elite. I'm in the market again.

I was thinking of trying to go smaller than the 3-9X40 CenterPoint that's on the .22, but I find myself using 9X even on 15 yard shots, if I have the time to fiddle with settings. I like my squirrel heads to fill the scope when I can, but I'd also like a larger FOV when zoomed so close. The 3X can be too close at times, but that's what my laser can be used for, I guess. Big FOV and light-weight/compact don't seem to go together with good zoom, unfortunately. It's going to be a hard choice.

I really like my Hawke 1/2 mil-dot 4-16X44(?) mounted on the .25. I prefer fine crosshairs most of the time, so I'm not crazy about the mil-dots added visual mass (even though they are small)... ...but they will definately come in handy!

Im with you Neuron, I love fine crosshairs... the finer the better. There is a scope out there that might do everything you want it to do and more. The Bushy Elite 6500 2.5-16x50mm. It has a huge magnification range, fine crosshairs, side adjust parallex, 30mm tube, hydrophobic lens coatings at the 550nm range. In my opinion it blows the Leupold vx3's and vx7's out of the water. I always thought Leupold were overpriced and after a ton of research and actually looking through both I would hesitate to recommend the Bushy. The price is way to high on the website below. You can get them on ebay for 60% of retail, thats like getting 1500 worth of scope for 600 bucks! If you have chance Neuron take a look at the 6500 series before making your next purchase. I promise you it will be worth your time

This is my favorite and next scope purchase

Seems this thread has been hijacked to scopes.

Bushy, have you tried the Leapers Swat with 30mm tube and side wheel focus scopes?
I have two of them and they are really nice and a lot less money.

Ive owned a few Leapers and Centerpoints over the years. I find them extremely heavy and they have a very very narrow field of view at higher magnifications. The Image quality was very milky on the Leapers I had, the optics were useless past 100 yards. I had a Centerpoint 3-9x44 adj A/O mounted on a H&K91 for a little while. I could barely squeezed 2 inch groups a 100 yards with it. I mounted a cheapy Leupold fx2 6 power on it and I was getting sub MOA all day long.

The Centerpoint was very long and heavy and almost made working the side cocking lever of the H&K useless. Once you've owned a truely fine piece of optical equipment its hard to go back to the cheaper brands. The Leapers and Centerpoints are great if thats all you have to spend but they really dont compare with quality optics. Ide rather go with a low end Nikon or Leupold than bother with Leapers or the like. I guess Hawkes arent that bad and their prices are reasonable too. Shoot a Bushy elite 6500 or 4200, Leupold vx3-7, or Nikon Monarch and you will see what Im talking about. I usually pay more for my scopes than I do for my guns but thats just me.
