Testing with video

The Benjamin Rouge in .357 caliber by Crosman is the first big-bore airgun to have an electronic valve to ensure both shot-to-shot consistency, and maximum shots per fill. This forum is a place to talk about the new rifle.

Testing with video

I know there is not a lot of testing done with the rouge so I figure I would give it a shot. All testing done at 50 yards. I will have to redo my setup for 100 yard groups.
First test was with 140g hollow point setting is 145g high power filled to 2948psi
Shot string as follows
778
771
748
723
703

With the 5th shot out of the picture because of the low speed.

Next is the 145 nosler.
Settings 145g high 2923psi
785
772
753
725

Next up is 127g flat nose
Settings 100g high 2981psi
784
793
786
770
748
726

Also shot the 127g on low power but did not group well at all.

The scope is not set but we are looking for groups anyway.

I hope to have some hunting videos with with the gun this season.

So we are looking at 4 usable shots per fill?

On high power yes. The gun shows on the display only 2 shots on high. So I'm getting more than the gun shows on that setting. I should have put in the first post that more testing is to come. On medium and low power for the 145g bullets do get more shots. I think if I had some pellets closer to 100g with the settings of 100g low power I could get 20 shots or better because the display shows 20 shots remaining on that power setting. I will also be testing some 170g hollow points as well.

I have had the gun for around a year now and overall I am pleased with it. At first I wasn't too sure about the gun but after spending time shooting it either it or myself has gotting better. I am still waiting on a LW barrel with hopes that the groups be be a little better. I was able to take 2 deer with it last season with impressive results.

I need to hear more about the deer! they are legalizing air guns for hunting next year in my state. I like the idea that this gun is fairly quiet (thats what I hear would like to hear your opion)
I think three full power shots with a heavy bullet would be plenty. I also have a shoebox compressor and a guppy 4500 psi tank that is easily carried in the field to top the gun off quickly after 3 shots if needed.
Seems plenty accurate to take deer are you lung shooting them or head shooting them?

The video was taken with a camera mounted on top of scope. It's not good quality but it works. Both where lung shots shot with 178grain hollow point.

I wouldn't think so since they are on you tube. The only things I can think of is they were shot using my iPhone and when I uploaded them it used the mobile YouTube instead of the desktop version. When I get back home I will try them on my desktop.

Is anybody else having the same issue with them?

You should be able to open them now. I removed the m. From the link and it worked fine on my desktop.

Few more strings shot at 50yards
140g setting 145 med power. Fill 3030
790
776
757
749
736
728
710
690
You can see the shot impact falling as pressure decreases

178g hollow point
170 high 3065 fill
732
723
707

178g hollow point
170 med fill 2997
721
714
702
691
674
658

Either the gun doesn't really like the 178g or it just not pushing them fast enough. (Compared to the 140g)

I hope this is helping some people out if they are thinking about getting this gun or even if you are interested in the performance in general.
