The Benjamin Rouge in .357 caliber by Crosman is the first big-bore airgun to have an electronic valve to ensure both shot-to-shot consistency, and maximum shots per fill. This forum is a place to talk about the new rifle.

I know people have lost interest in the Rouge but for anyone that might still own one I have shrunk my groups. If you have read my earlier posts I was even trying to get a LW barrel for it. For some reason I have never gotten that barrel. I had to finally request he send my my stock barrel back to me so I could hunt with the gun. Next I ordered a Ranger 45 and it has been over a year on that order I email about it every 3 or 4 months but don't get a date for shipment he just tells me to check back in a couple months. So after all the time trying to get a good hunting big bore and decided to get back into testing the rouge and trying to get it to shoot better than it does. I contacted Mr Hollow point and ordered 116g, 124g, 135g, and 140g all in .358 size. I already had 140g and 178g in .357 size. I also "bedded" the shroud by running a bead of clear silicone on each side between the air tube and the shroud and let it set for 2 weeks while I was at work.

Now for the testing. After shooting all the bullets I found the .358 135g gives me consistent 1 1/2 inch groups at 100yards. The other .358s were between 2.5 and 3 inch groups at 100. For some reason the 135g sized to .358 seems to be the best I have found so for. Next I shot the 135 across the chrony. 810, 789, 780. Fill was 3000psi setting 140g med power. This setting is the the one I found that sends the lead the fastest. It also makes the gun a little quieter than the high power setting.

Hope to have scope cam video of a hog or deer soon. As I typed this I just had an otter walk accross the plot. It was tempting but a had to pass on him.

I don't have a Rogue, though I was wondering if pistol bullets work, have you tried them? Some look to be the size you talked about (.358). I have read where some shooters use round balls, how accurate are they?

My buddy who has a Rogue and has not been able to get groups nearly that good recently heard that jacketed 9 mm (115 grain) bullets were the ones to try.

Anyone know about this?

I was under the impression that the harder lead could ruin the railings in barrel. The bullets for Mr Hollowpoint mushroom better than any other I have tried. I would assume the pistol bullets would need more speed to deform any.

Thanks Walx. I'll pass that info on to my buddy. I don't want him to screw up his gun (any more).

Could always use something a little bigger :D
I was able to take a 115lb doe yesterday at 43yards. She ran about 35 yards. I found the pellet right under the skin on the opposite shoulder. I had just took off the iscope due to low light for the iPhone and I guess sitting in the box stand doesn't help the lighting either. Here is the pellet I recovered.

Once I got to cleaning it I forgot all about taking pictures of the wound Channel.
