d-rod project

My wife use to live in San Antonio and we lived in Arlington. My sisters live in Coppell and McKinney. I could move to Austin, my company has a location there. Colorado has pigs, but way, way south by New Mexico and the OK panhandle. Heck, in Michigan you can shoot pigs from a boat---shooting pigs on the shore, off the water. I just want to get a couple 100-150lb sows or a bunch of weeners. I would love to get a big ol' trophy boar. This is when I say how lucky you are. And to be able to hunt them with AG's at night along with exotics...nice. The only thing I can hunt at night are HOSP's, YB's, and Collared Doves---with night vision, artificial light and we only need a hunter ed. card.

So Monkeysdaddy1969 where are you now? Austin huh, lots of auto traffic there. It's getting pretty crazy here in Texas with this open carry talk. What action you going to use on your big bore?

It's way crazy in Colorado. I live in Aurora, and with all the legal weed---man, the idiots came out of the wood works. We have open carry here, but a lot of people don't know about it. I am not to crazy about Austin. Rather go somewhere else in TX. I want to move back to OK, preferably. I will probably use a Cothran action. He gave me a good price and they are pretty much made for the TJ liners.

Here is an email I sent a buddy. This is my shopping list for my big bore build. :o  8-)

Don says it will cost 85.60 + 10.00 shipping. So I am thinking a 30" tube with a 29" barrel. That will put me 2" past the tube with enough room for a LDC. A Disco tube is 25 3/4" long so there will be some extra air with a longer tube, or I just stay with the stock length of 25 3/4" with a 26" barrel and keep it simple.

So, as of now:

Cothran parts:
Big Bore breech 85.00
Valve 120.00
Tube 85.60
RVA 26.00
1/2" barrel band 24.20*2 48.40

Crosman parts:
Fill Adapter 16.26
Dust Cap 9.43
M-Rod trigger 47.85
Trigger guard 12.76
screw 1.15
Lug Stock 5.13
Striker 2.69

TJ barrel 97.50

Stock 250.00---finished

557.77 w/o stock
807.77 w/stock

Don may already have one built that he will sell cheaper. I am open to other stock options, and you know me...I love tacticool. Then I scrap the M-Rod trigger and Challenger trigger guard, screw, stock lug and striker (69.58), get the P-Rod trigger for 37.41 and Alchemy AirWerks fluted hammer for the 2260 tube w/p-rod trigger for 28.00...total w/o stock 553.60---save 4.17. Then it's taticool and I just need to rig a foregrip and rear stock. Or just see if i can find someone else to make me a hammer or who makes one cheaper. So you never know. A wood stock would be nice for stability, though. What do you think?

Sounds to me you're right on track. I like tacticool myself and I bet you could fit it all in one of rapid70 Bullpup or maybe make one.

What makes it worse, is that I have been planning to build a Disco pistol, now I want to make it a short carbine with a bottle. For short to mid-range shooting. Dang, another 250-400 spent---hopefully I can get most of the parts used.

Yeah I saw their sale. After I got my barrel bands from him...not to impressed. I had a bad time. First bands, the grub screws were drilled off center---by a lot. 2nd bands weren't that much better.

Dang that sucks. I ordered last Thursday still haven't seen shipping confirmation yet. I wonder what's going on with them. I've sent 2 e mail about pellets not seating fully in the bore. About 1/8" of pellet is hanging out in the transfer port hole.
