THE PUMP and how to avoid customer satisfaction problems.

Postby Sandspike » Wed Oct 09, 2013 9:27 am

I bought an Mrod package with the Benjamin pump. The pump functioned for a total of 12 days and less than 20 uses. This might not have happened if the instructions were more specific about the proper use and handling of the pump. Therefore I have some suggestions to help you get ahead of this customer satisfaction problem.
1. Tell people about the heat issues with the O rings and how to pump it correctly to aleviate the O ring melting problems.
2. Be upfront with people and tell them that it's going to have to be periodically rebuilt with new O rings because they will wear out. And put a rebuild kit in the box with instructions on how to do it. Those O rings don't cost you that much. Unhappy customers cost you lots more.
3. Tell customers that if they live in a humid environment that they need to buy the desicciant dehumidifer kit that they can order from Sun Optics. Tell them why they need it to protect the pump and the rifle from water buildup and related damage.
4. Don't make your customers call Crosman to find out about Sun Optics, give them that info in your instructions.

Crosman has a very good customer relations reputation, but that can be ephemeral.

I get my pump back today from Sun Optics. I have not been able to shoot my new gun for over a week and I believe that this could and should have been preventable with a timely bit of information and knowledge.

Sincerely,
Your customer

I doubt they read this forum although they should.

It is for us who have Marauders and want to help each other out.

What you stated is very true and we have seen it said here dozens of times, but it never hurts to repeat it.

Many start with the hand pump because it seems like a reasonable way to fill your Marauder, but many move on to air tanks once they figure out how much work it is to fill your gun - especially the larger calibers. 177 and the hand pump are probably not too bad with 50 to 100 shots per fill, but a 25 and a hand pump is tons of work for 16 good shots per fill.

Telling people and getting them to listen are two different things..

It's too late for that advice. I will probably move on to a tank but I gotta pay off what I got first or the boss will use it to kill me. Death by 1000 pellets.

Okay, makes sense, I would've liked a tank but cost deffered me. Almost 700 a tank but then you got to fill it; you can go with a guppy but then its nice to have a shoebox...it seems to go on, and on.
