my 22 marauder

Hi guys, im starting some of my work on the marauder tomorrow, full service, depinger and the bstaley mod, ive read up as much as i can on this, however i have a few questions, seems im in the uk and my rifle is sub 12.ft.lbs would alot of the setup videos be a waste to me as from what i can see your american rifles get higher setups dew to no power laws... Has anyone done the bstaley mod and setup on a 22 marauder for more shots rather than higher power? As that would be more aimed at me, also two videos ive seen on this mod explain the adjustments i know i can adjust the spring from outside the rifle but not the hammer stroke ect, and the last question is seems the rifle is already set for the uk market if installing the orings infront of the hammer would 2 do it or still go for 3? And cud i keep the same setting's as it is?

You will need 3 maybe 4 O rings, with 2 the hammer probably won't touch them. FWIW the lighter the HS the more the hammer will bounce.
Sure would like to see what was done to the valve (velocity screw) and hammer (hammer stroke screw /striker) to bring the power down to non FAC. Pushing 18 grains at 550 FPS just doesn't seem like fun to me.
I have a question, do you get valve lock at high (2800+ psi /193 bar) fill pressure?

My initial impressions of 12 FPE as a squirrel/pigeon hunter:

If I were limited to 12 FPE, I would shoot 177 caliber and most likely 8 grain pellets. And shot placement is critical at that power level.

Without the power limit, the heavier pellets are generally better, but I tune my guns so the initial pellet velocity is between 800 and 880 fps - even if the pellet is anywhere from 10 grains in 177 caliber or 25 to 43 grains in 25 caliber.

I had my 22 P-rod tuned for 40 shots at a peak of 12 FPE and it just felt weak. I boosted it to 16 FPE and it became great again.

25 W-rod | 8 shots @ 70 FPE -2% | 3100 fill
25 M-rod | 40 shots @ 35 FPE -4% | 3100 fill
22 M-rod | 51 shots @ 25 FPE -4% | 3100 fill
17 M-rod | 60 shots @ 19 FPE -4% | 2500 fill
25 P_rod | 16 shots @ 28 FPE -4% | 2100 fill

That pretty much shows the hammer spring is factory stock. Your VS must be screwed in almost all the way.

12 ftlbs is plenty in the uk tho, squirrel, rats, rabbits, crow, magpies, and pigeons all go down without arguing with a clinicly placed head shot their all i ever take, and if its not broke dont fix it, and yea i do favor the 177 over 22 but both serve a Good perpose, accuracy over power any day dont care what country or state (y) :)

sure, but we can have both now...with PCPs.

Your name is Deer Hunter, would you shoot deer with 12 foot pounds? Of course not...

No the deer get taken with a 303 :) but same with that accuracy amd shot placement every time over power, what good is power if you cant hit a barn door ;) ive seen alot of people cant shoot for s"#t and they try to compensate this with power and a bigger calibre

I think you must know that most airgunners are all about achiving very high accuracy - and PCP shooters even more so because we can get excellent accuracy. MOA or better groups is what most are after. I've never even met an avid airgunner who could not consistently get a head shot on a squirrel-size pest out to at least 30 yards. And some much further than that.

And we all know that good shot placement is essential.

Speaking of accuracy, have you tested the accuracy of your 22 M-rod yet?

Over here in the uk theres so many people that own a air rifle but they cannot shoot it for sh#t Thats the thing anyone can own a air rifle but how many can use them correctly. And guys im not having a go or putting down pown power when it comes to shooting, im Just emphasising how i see air rifle shooting accuracy, shot placement and power. :)
